Links

I wanted to put a link to many of our favorite travel sites, and tour operators.
  • First and foremost, we use Jennifer Reilly from Transat Travel Appleby as our Travel Agent.  I know you may laugh at that, but when you are going for a multi-week custom built tour, it is good to have someone to help investigate the finer details, help find a tour, and help out with the itinerary.  Jen is amazing and she has helped us now for three trips.
  • Trafalgar Tours.  These guys are our favorite tour operator (so far).  They offer many different types of fully guided tours.  We have taken them on multiple occasions for all or part of our trip and have never been disappointed.  From Marcella in South America, to Marco in Italy they have always been amazing.  We like the "At Leisure" tours as they give you your own time (if you want it...and we usually do) to do what you like while still getting the major sites where you are.  They are amazing in Europe as well as they are so large they have their own private areas in paces.  For example, we had an area of the Vatican that only Trafalgar can access. Also it is good to think of a guided tour in areas where English is not spoken fluently everywhere.

  • Viator.  If designing your own tour is more your style, we have done that as well.  I know that sometimes it is attractive to be able to do and go where you want and when you want.  In this case Viator is somewhere to check out for ideas and tours anywhere in the world.  Even if you don't end up booking through them (they resell other operators tours, that they validate and vouch for) they allow for you to see common things that you can do on the trip.  We most recently used this when we went to Italy (even though we were on a guided tour) we had a few pre-days that we decided to go on a night tour of the Coliseum in Rome, which is definitely highly recommended and a must see!  The beauty here is that you also are part of a group and can get into group areas. For places like the Vatican (where the lineups are 1000 people long on a good day) groups can get you in an hour before the public and at a certain time.

I am sure that there will be more things added here as we continue to explore and travel the world, but this is what I have for now.
