In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion doesn't sleep tonight

We took the panarama route, unfortunately it was very misty/foggy so we didn't end up stopping at God's window since we wouldn't see anything. We did stop at the potholes, where two rivers meet and have created a number of potholes in the rocks.

From here, we arrived at another private reserve, we had enough to time before our game drive in the evening that we got to sit back and relax.

The drive at first was quite uneventful, our guide and tracker did find some male lion tracks and a few leopard ones as well, but we had apparently missed the leopard by about an hour.  We saw a number of impalas, mostly bachelor groups.

After driving around for sometime, we decided we could find a nice location to have a drink and watch the sunset. Once we turned the corner to the location we were suppose to have drinks, we happened upon five lionesses snoozing in the road!

We were incredibly close to these ladies! We hung out for a few minutes just watching them snooze. Lions are not really exciting in the day, unless they are eating or walking around.

While we stopped for drinks, our guide gave those of us with DSLR cameras a quick lesson on how to take photos in the spot light. As we were enjoying our drinks, the male lion started roaring away, about a kilometre, or so our guide told us.

Honestly, I'm still learning photography and one thing I'm really bad for is checking my settings, particularly my white balance. When we found the male lion I had forgotten to check the WB, so of course I got some weird colour shots, until I caught it and changed it.

I got a few others of the male lion with the corrected WB, but they just weren't as exciting as the ones without. Hopefully, I can fix the colour when I get home. I guess we shall see.

We happened upon the lionesses again while out, they had moved to a different spot but were slow to move. They all lined up along the road and were yawning as they woke up. Our game drive was definitely lion filled! Kind of excited to see what tomorrow brings.
