So lets see, where to start. Well we are now here but I continued to add to this post during the journey. Here is a plane selfie:
First stop Munich...and an 8hr flight.. The flight was uneventful and the most interesting thing that happened was that they had a faulty entertainment system, and as a result if they went on the speaker they needed to reboot the system so that happened three times before they just stopped using the intercom.
In Munich there is a Hilton on airport and we had a room there. Thank goodness as we had a 10hr layover and got a few hours nap and had a shower before going back through security. Audrey as is tradition got pulled aside for her carry-on...this time they were not interested in a geode, as was the case in South America, but of course Audrey's dads expensive camera lens he is letting us borrow. She had to look through it etc before letting us through. I hope this is not a trend for the rest of the security checkpoints.
The next flight that we boarded was the long haul for 10 more hours right to Cape Town. This plane was a brand new a340, so quiet, so nice. Still have not been on a Dreamliner myself, but I digress. I always forget how much nicer airlines outside of North America are, service was great, and we even got these as a treat:
I was connected for this flight too, which was nice, was able to facestock while watching the force awakens amongst other movies.
That's about it for the journey. Cape Town landing was also uneventful and we are here safely. The journey from airport was quite nice, although took some time in traffic.
Our hotel is quaint, and pretty nice, and is right at the base of the mountain:
It's actually a guest house and really nice. Will post some inside pics etc. later. We ended up napping for some time and then going down to the waterfront for an early dinner.
Well, that's it for now, will update with actual vacation as soon as we start doing stuff! I leave you with this beauty of a pic of Audrey...
