Hakuna Matata

Today was a animal filled day! We took a cruise on the river in St. Lucia, where we saw a number of hippos! We also saw some crocodiles! There was one big hippo with giant tusks!

From there we drove to the Rhino Ridge lodge where we took an evening game drive. We saw a number of animals, such as; zebra, giraffes, baboons, warthogs, rhinos, elephants! So many of the animals were right off the roadway. We saw three of the of the big five so far, elephants, water buffalo and rhinos. On our way back to the lodge, an elephant was blocking the only pathway back to the lodge. So everyone had to wait for him to get off the road. There was about four different vehicles waiting to go. Finally the elephant moved off the road, so a number of the vehicles slowly drove past. As we approached the spot where the elephant was he turned suddenly and looked like he was going to charge and our driver took off up the road like a bat out of hell! Total freaked most, but he didn't chase us thankfully.

Let's be honest, this post is going to have more photos of animals then me talking about them. Bertha (my long lense) got her work out today for sure! Below are some of photos I took.

Rhino Ridge Lodge is a stunning resort, it has a lovely view from the patio. Apparently some of the elephants have figured out how to get into the area and use the pool as their watering hole. We have to be escorted to our rooms at night because the only animals that are fenced out are suppose to be the elephants.
